Learning to Live With Your Wheelchair Varieties

Several other patients ask for wheelchairs for different purposes. Few patients need it for short interval whereas several others use a wheelchair for lifelong. Which many other means you use them may differ but one fact is sure, the present latest wheelchair is a modern miracle in design as compared to 100 years before.

Wheelchairs are of 2 types, first one is the power wheelchair and the second one is the manual wheelchair. There are demerits as well as benefits of each type of wheelchairs. The manual wheelchair is more classified into, the rigid frame and the folding frame manual wheelchair. The folding wheelchair can be folded easily (wheel facing wheel) for very simple packed carrying.

The demerit of the folding frame wheelchair is that it is more bulky than an one piece rigid frame. In the rigid frame wheelchair there are no scissor arms, which make the folding frame wheelchair bulky and therefore rigid frame is light in weight. Rigid frames wheelchairs are at times named as sport wheelchairs.

So we have got two options, either choose power wheelchairs or manual wheelchairs. The merits of each type of wheelchair are distinguished with drawbacks. Such manual wheelchair gives the patient a bodily workout in arm exercise. The power wheel chair permits you a 20 mile reach in smooth movement. However the executing allows no stresses at all.
